Measuring Tips
Use graph paper and write down your
measurements. Write down all dimensions in inches. Use a 25 foot tape measure and a pencil with
an eraser. A standard level is recommended also. |

Your Floor Plan |
|
We can not stress enough that the key to success is
accurate measurements. This will ensure proper
appliance, cabinet, and design placement. Two to three
times measuring is suggested. We will double check and
triple check your measurements. Below is a measuring
procedure to prepare a simple floor plan of your
kitchen. Mark the exact locations of doors, windows, gas
line, water line, drains, hood vents, exhaust, drains,
heat vents, light fixtures, and electrical outlets.
Start by measuring a horizontal view of your kitchen.
Follow these steps: |
- Measure from wall to wall at a 36" height.
- Measure from corner to window or door opening.
- Measure across opening from trim edge to trim edge.
- Measure from trim edge of trim to far wall. Compare
the sum of B,
C, and D measurements to Step A measurements.
- Mark the locations of electrical outlets, switches,
gas lines, water
and drain on the drawing.
- Measure from wall to wall above the window and
compare it to the measurement in Step A.
Next, measure a vertical view of your kitchen. Follow
these steps:
G. Measure from floor to windowsill .
H. Measure from windowsill to top of window.
I. Measure from top of window to the ceiling.
J.
Measure from floor to ceiling and compare sum of G, H,
and
I.
